• Pick who is eating, choose a cuisine and a chef persona, then tap Generate plan.

• Every meal plan creates a shopping list grouped by item.
• Compare estimated prices across supermarkets.
• Add manual items, set price alerts, and print or share the list.

⚙️ Settings

• Bring your own Gemini key for AI plan and pantry generation.
• Export your data, back it up to Google Drive, or clear it from Settings.
• Switch between light and dark mode at any time.

🔑 Setting up your Gemini API key

1. Go to Google AI Studio.
2. Sign in with the Google account you want to use.
3. Click Create API key and give it a name such as "Hannah's Larder".
4. Copy the key (it starts with AIza...).
5. Open Hannah's Larder, go to Settings, paste the key under BYOK Gemini key, pick a model, and tap Verify key.

The key is free, stays in your browser, and is sent directly from your device to Google. Hannah's Larder never receives or stores it.

🤖 Choosing a model

• In Settings you can pick the Gemini model you want to use under BYOK Gemini key. Lite models have the highest free daily call limits and are the best starting point.
• If your chosen model hits its rate limit or is unavailable, Hannah's Larder will automatically try other Gemini models from your key's available list, sorted by daily quota.
• This means you can always select the model you prefer, while the app falls back to others when Google is busy.

☁️ Google Drive backup

• You can back up your Hannah's Larder data to your own Google Drive from Settings → Google Drive backup.
• The backup is written straight from your browser to your Drive's app data folder. Hannah's Larder never sees or stores it on our servers.
• For extra protection, add a passphrase before backing up. The passphrase is used to encrypt the data in your browser with AES-GCM, and we never receive it. If you forget the passphrase, the backup cannot be decrypted.
• You control the file: you can revoke access and delete it from your Google account at any time.

🔒 Local-only data

• If you do not use Google Drive, all your data stays in your browser's local storage on your own device.
• We do not sell, share, or access your data. It is only on your device unless you choose to back it up to your own Google account.
• You can export your data as a JSON file or permanently clear it from Settings at any time.

🛡️ Compliance and your rights

• Hannah's Larder is designed so that we do not collect or hold your personal data. Your pantry, family data, plans and AI key live on your device.
• AI calls with your own Gemini key go directly from your browser to Google. We do not handle, process, or store your prompts.
• Because you keep the data, you can access, export, edit or delete it whenever you want without needing us.
• This privacy-by-design approach aligns with GDPR principles such as data minimisation, purpose limitation, user control and the right to erasure.
